Malik Reed says team rallying around each other in the wake of Von Miller’s injury

The second year edge player will be leaned on heavily with Von Miller being hurt.

Second year edge player Malik Reed sat down with Ryan Edwards and Benjamin Allbright tonight on Broncos Country Tonight to discuss how the defense is handling Von Miller’s injury, the upcoming challenge of facing the Titans, and what his mindset is like as he takes on an expanded role in place of Von Miller.

“My mindset is still the same,” Reed said. It’s really to strive to get better every day, continue to learn, continue to grow, and stay ready for each and every opportunity that I get. That’s the focus. Taking it one day at a time, one step at a time.

Malik will certainly get additional opportunities with Miller being sidelined. Last season, he made the team as an undrafted free agent and ended up being called upon early to replace Bradley Chubb. Reed logged 44% of available defensive snaps last season, and looked pretty good stepping up into the rotation. Hopefully he can build on that this year and continue to grow.

Reed also had a message for Broncos Country on what to expect on Monday night, particularly those that are deflated and have lowered their expectations due to Von Miller’s injury.

Man, look forward to an energized team. You know Von is a big part of the Broncos and has been for years and up to this point, but we’re definitely getting prepared to go out and win a football game. That’s what it’s all about and that’s what we’re all here for so we’re going to need Broncos Country whenever we can have you guys back out there, we’ll need you loud and screaming and ready to watch some Broncos football this year. We’re looking to put on a great show, and we’re going to give it all we got each and every time we come out.

Take a listen to the full interview here or above, it’s good stuff.
