In what felt like a maddeningly frustrating season opener for the Denver Broncos, Vic Fangio threw fuel on the fire as time simply fluttered past. The Broncos loss to the Titans was frustrating on several fronts, but no situation was more mind blowing than Fangio hanging onto his timeouts like vacation days he was saving up for a trip to Italy.
Vic can now convert his two saved timeouts to cherry slushies to enjoy on his ride home

On the MHR Radio Podcast, Ian St. Clair and I gave exasperated, late night huffs and puffs, sighs of confusion, and a few, “what the what?”s. It was a difficult postgame recap.
In a game that Drew Lock and the Broncos should have won, Tennessee was able to take advantage of mistakes from players and coaches alike, and squeak out a win.
Sure, all those Stephen Gostkowski misses played a big part in keeping Denver in the game. And Derek Henry did rush for over 100 yards, but the youth of the Broncos, and the inexperience of the players and coaches helped to rip victory away from the team.
Untimely mistakes, and penalties reared their ugly heads. A costly turnover from Melvin Gordon. A (phantom?) personal foul on Alexander Johnson to negate a Michael Ojemudia interception. Ojemudia called for pass interference. Rich Scangarello calling for a shovel pass to Jake Butt on 4th and 1.
What’s that? Pat Shurmur called that play? Kind of felt like 2019 all over again. While most of the world might be alright with backtracking to last year, the Denver Broncos sure don’t want to.
It wasn’t all bad, and Ian and I tried to find the positive. I’ll leave you with this one. Not a single person in Broncos Country heard Garett Bolles’ name. No one is complaining about the left tackle. That’s new, and I think we can all agree that we hope it becomes a trend.
