Can the Broncos make adjustments and surprise the Steelers

Winning in Pittsburgh would be a big surprise.

As one of the most hyped teams in the NFL, the Denver Broncos sputtered down the stretch of their Week 1 loss to the Tennessee Titans. The disappointment was real in Broncos Country. What we need to do is take a timeout to bring things back down to earth.

As Ian St. Clair and I sat down to preview the Broncos matchup against the Steelers on the MHR Radio Podcast, it became pretty obvious that the biggest issue for Denver moving forward is going to be experience.

It was obvious that everyone needed more time to prepare for the season. From the top down, the Broncos struggled to execute. If they allow the little mistakes to pile up in Pittsburgh it won’t take long for the Steelers to take advantage.

So, what do the Broncos do?

There’s not one answer. Eliminating mistakes like turnovers and drops will help the offense stay on the field. The offense can build on Drew Lock’s connection with Noah Fant. Getting Courtland Sutton back could be a huge lift to the offense. KJ Hamler returning to the offense creates another deep threat to stretch the field.

If Garett Bolles and the rest of the offensive line can play a clean game, there’s a chance the offense could improve on the 14-point whimper that was almost enough to beat the Titans.

The Steelers are one of those popular preseason picks to make a deep run in the playoffs. The Broncos are one of those popular preseason picks to surprise the league and make the playoffs.

If the Broncos want to start surprising teams, there will be no time or place like a Sunday morning in Pittsburgh.
