The Denver Broncos (0-1) will want to avoid an 0-2 start on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) who are fresh off a Monday Night road win in Week 1.

Game Preview

The thing about that 0-2 start is that just 11% of teams have recovered to make a playoff run since 2002. That is a very worrisome number and one Denver would like to avoid if at all possible.

That task will fall mostly on the shoulders of young quarterback Drew Lock and that offense. When ask about putting too much on the plate for the offense, Head Coach Vic Fangio wasn’t too concerned.

“I think they’re capable of having a pretty good bit on their plate,” Fangio said on Thursday. “We did a lot of personnel groups the other night. We ran various types of passes and screens—short, intermediate, deep. I think they’re capable of that. The more we play, the better success we’ll have with it. We’re always conscious and we want to do as much as we can while making sure we can execute it. We can look fancy and do a lot of different things, but if it’s not being executed right, it doesn’t really matter. We’re trying to push it and use our guys to the best of their abilities, but we’re just trying to handle that fine line of execution, too. I have confidence in our guys to be able to do a lot of things offensively.”

They need that offense to click against a very stingy Steelers defense. With Ben Roethlisberger on the other side of the ball, Pittsburgh has a balanced football team that could challenge the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North title this season.

Here is how to watch.

SportsBetting Odds

The Broncos opened 5.5-point underdogs, but after losing at home to the Tennessee Titans and losing both A.J. Bouye and Phillip Lindsay for Week 2 the line dropped to 6.5-points on Tuesday. They will be heavy underdogs on the road against Pittsburgh.

Matchup History

The Broncos and Steelers have a long history of rivalry despite being in separate divisions. That’s to be expected between two franchise with winning traditions going back many decades. Denver has bested Pittsburgh in the regular season in a 15-8-1 mark and also in the playoffs owning a 5-3 record there. The Broncos are also on a bit of a roll in their recent history winning four of their last five meetings dating back to 2011.

Fan Sentiment

A week ago Broncos Country polled at 91% confidence heading into Week 1, but after a game filled with miscues and poor coaching that predictably plummeted for Week 2. We’re standing at an even 72% as a fan base. Not bad all things considering, but if Denver loses this week...
