In a surprise move, the Denver Broncos have cut cornerback De’Vante Bausby. The cornerback room was crowded, but Bausby was having a fine season before a scary neck injury put him on injured reserve last season. He figures to be in play for the practice squad if he clears waivers.
“It’s going to be one guy at a time,” Fangio said on Friday. “We’ll see how [Michael] Ojemudia did tonight. We’ll see how Davontae [Harris] did, [De’Vante] Bausby did, Duke [Dawson Jr.] did. We’ll make a decision by next Tuesday which way we’re going to go the first week.”
They also moved on from Kendall Hinton. He also looks like a strong practice squad candidate, but that wide receiver room was even more crowded there. The Broncos third quarterback, Brett Rypien, hopes to also find his way onto the practice squad after being waived today.
The Broncos have also waived offensive tackle Tyler Jones on Saturday. Jones was signed to a future contract after the season late last year after spending a lot of 2019 as a rookie on Denver’s practice squad.
Jones posted above average RAS at the 2019 NFL Combine and has enough talent to play in the NFL. He figures to play into the Broncos practice squad plans for 2020. He is a 6’3”, 306 pound tackle out of North Carolina State.
