Reese’s Senior Bowl 2021 kicks off today and it is the first big event for this year’s NFL Draft. The American team will be coached by Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule and the National team will be headed up by Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores.
Game preview
This game is even more important to NFL scouts. With COVID-19 protocols all last year, they had much of their normal ground work taken away from them. This may be one of the few times they will get to really get to know some of these players before the draft.
“The scouts usually spend all fall on the road at practices and team facilities and they know all the players already,” Dane Brugler noted on Broncos Country Tonight last week. “This past fall that hasn’t been the case.”
The 2021 NFL Draft might be the most difficult draft for teams to build boards around and finding diamonds in later rounds would become even more tricky. The Senior Bowl might be a great way to offset the lack of work NFL scouts had during the pandemic.
