Alexander Johnson done for season with torn pec

The Denver Broncos have now lost both of their starting inside linebackers to torn pecs.

The Denver Broncos received more bad news on Monday as they have lost inside linebacker Alexander Johnson for the season to a torn pec. He’ll join Josey Jewell on injured reserve who was also lost for the season to a torn pec. The hits keep coming for Denver’s defense.

Johnson has been the Broncos leading tackler since 2019. He led the team in tackles in 2020 with 124. He had issues in pass coverage, but there is no denying this will hurt the middle of the Broncos defense. Justin Strnd is already starting in place of the injured Jewell, so it looks like Micah Kiser will get the start this week as Baron Browning will be out with a concussion.

After an embarrassing home loss to their AFC West rival Las Vegas Raiders, head coach Vic Fangio will have his hands full with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football as he looks to get the Broncos’ season back on track. That job is now more difficult with the loss of Johnson to this season-ending injury.
