Due to a plethora of injuries from their opponent this week, the Denver Broncos are only slight underdogs to the Cleveland Browns here on Thursday Night Football despite a three game skid and some pretty bad football being played by the orange and blue as of late.
Game Preview
Having spent most of Sunday and Monday in a fit of rage over how poorly the Broncos played the Las Vegas Raiders at home, I didn’t even start to really dig into this game until Tuesday and what I found once I did has inexplicably given me a bit of hope this team can get things moving in the right direction again.
The Browns are a good football team, but also inconsistent. That’s when they are healthy. In this game, they will not have their starting quarterback, both their starting running backs, and a starting wide receiver or two. This is absolutely a winnable game for Denver.
That said, they have to actually execute a game plan. Granted, the game plan on offense seems like it may be hampered by Pat Shurmur’s inability to adjust to what is working in-game, but the players can still make it work if they just start hitting on those plays they’ve missed on in recent weeks. If they can get back to controlling the clock, then they will help the defense get back on track as well.
There’s a lot of ifs, but if the Broncos can’t win this game there isn’t going to be very many wins left for them in 2021. Win this game and maybe they can turn things around.
Here’s how to watch.
