The Denver Broncos have reportedly signed defensive lineman Shelby Harris to a three-year deal. Harris’ agent tweeted out that news first, then Ian Rapoport followed up with the contract details. It’s a three-year deal worth $27 million.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, that deal will include $15 million in guaranteed money for Harris. It is big news for the Broncos interior defensive line has Shelby Harris has often been the team’s best cornerback with as many batted passes Harris had last season.
“Shelby sets the tone on our defensive line,” Broncos’ GM George Paton said on Monday. “As a disruptive pass rusher and physical run defender, he’s hard to handle up front. We’re excited to have Shelby back with the Broncos.”
Harris, 29, will be a Bronco for another three seasons. In his time with Denver, he has compiled 154 total tackles with 15.5 sacks and 33 quarterback hits. He also has 23 total passes defenses through those four seasons.
New Broncos’ General Manager George Paton had said Harris was a priority for them a few weeks ago. When asked, he had zero coach speak coming out when it came to getting Shelby Harris back.
“Brian Williams is a great agent,” Paton said. “I am close with Brian and have spoken with him about Shelby. Shelby is a priority in free agency. We’d love to have Shelby back. He’s a really good football player and a good person. I know Vic’s spoken with him. I’ve spoken with him early. He’s a guy we definitely want back.”
As a fan, I’m glad to hear this. Harris is a great player and a great Denver Bronco.
