Who should the Broncos take in the second round of the Mile High Mock?

Should the Broncos build around Trey Lance or add to the defense?

Over the next few days 31 NFL fans will participate in a live mock draft event. Their goal? To select the best players available for their respective franchises. There’s only one team in need of a general manager.

Your Denver Broncos.

Following the Broncos selection at 9, the Mile High Mock resumed on Saturday. What follows are picks ten through 39 with a couple of thoughts from yours truly. My hope is that you find it informative and fun to consider what the Broncos should do at 40th overall.

After you vote, be sure to check back tomorrow at 12 to see who will wear orange and blue!

1.10 Dallas Cowboys - Patrick Surtain II - CB - Alabama

I love this pick for the Cowboys and think Surtain and last year’s second round pick Trevon Diggs could surprise a lot of people with Dan Quinn calling the defense in 2021.

1.11 New York Giants - Micah Parsons - LB - Penn State

1.12 Philadelphia Eagles - DaVonta Smith - WR - Alabama

An interesting selection given Philadelphia’s laundary list of question marks, but one that makes plenty of success if the plan is to give Jalen Hurts every chance to succeed. Smith’s weight concerned some of the GMs I spoke with, but not Seth Rowles.

“You can’t overthink it. He’s one of the best receiver prospects in the last five years and we suck everywhere.”

1.13 Los Angeles Chargers - Christian Darrisaw - OT - Virginia Tech

1.14 Minnesota Vikings - Jaelan Phillips - ED - Miami

I had the opportunity to speak with Brennen the Psych0tic P0tat0 about his decision to draft Jaelan Phillips.

“Putting aside the concussion concerns, Phillips is the best edge rusher in this class and pairing him with Hunter for Mike Zimmer will bring even more success to the Vikings pass rush and overall defense. An extremely hard worker and obviously passionate player from Southern California to Miami I hope he enjoys the winters in Minneapolis!”

1.15 New England Patriots - Jaycee Horn - CB - South Carolina

When reached for comment, the Patriots’ Keagan Stiefel thought Horn made too much sense to overlook.

“Both Stephon Gilmore and J.C. Jackson enter 2021 with only one year remaining on their contracts, and neither of them seem to be keen on the idea of playing under those circumstances.

With the eventful offseason the team just had it looks as if they’ll only be able to pay one of the two. To supplement their potential losses they select Jaycee Horn here, who many believe is the best man cover corner in the draft. Belichick likely.”

1.16 Arizona Cardinals - Greg Newsome II - CB - Clemson

1.17 Las Vegas Raiders - Christian Barmore - DL - Alabama

1.18 Miami Dolphins - Jaylen Waddle - WR - Alabama

1.19 Washington Football Team - Alijah Vera-Tucker - OL - USC

1.20 Chicago Bears - Rashod Bateman - WR - Minneosta

1.21 Indianapolis Colts - Teven Jenkins - OT - Oklahoma State

There will be questions about his ability to play left tackle in the NFL, but it’s hard to dismiss how fun it’d be to watch Jonathan Taylor rushing behind Jenkins and Quenton Nelson.

1.22 Tennessee Titans - Alex Leatherwood - OL - Alabama

1.23 New York Jets - Caleb Farley - CB - Virginia Tech

When I reached out to Randall he was elated to take a chance on the Hokie.

“Once renowned as a top 10 pick injury concern drop him to us and we simply can’t turn away from the talent. NYJ and Saleh inherited the worst secondary in the NFL and Farley can change that the next 5 years in a pass happy league.”

1.24 Pittsburgh Steelers - Kyle Trask - QB - Florida

1.25 Jacksonville Jaguars - Trevon Moehrig - S - TCU

1.26 Cleveland Browns - Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah - Hybrid - Notre Dame

1.27 Baltimore Ravens - Terrace Marshall Jr. - WR - LSU

1.28 New Orleans Saints - Asante Samuel Jr. - CB - Florida State

1.29 Green Bay Packers - Jayson Oweh - ED - Penn State

1.30 Buffalo Bills - Kwity Paye - ED - Michigan

1.31 Kansas City Chiefs - Azeez Ojulari - ED - Georgia

I was surprised the Bulldog fell so far and it sounds like Eric Martin was too.

“I approached Kansas City’s pick looking at best player available. The draft is deep at Tackle, a position the Chiefs do need, so I felt comfortable going the BPA route instead. Azeez Ojulari was one of the top edge rushers in this class so when he dropped to 31 I felt he was a good option to upgrade the Chiefs pass rush.”

1.32 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Samuel Cosmi - OT - Texas

2.1 Jacksonville Jaguars - Dillon Radunz - OT - NDSU

2.2 New York Jets - Baron Browning - LB - Ohio State

When I spoke with Randall he was overjoyed at the chance to draft the Buckeye.

“He has athletic ability we only see a few times a decade and he might need some polish mentally but Saleh can work wonders early on with Browning rushing the passer in creative ways as he gains experience in their shift in D approach. Overall, a first round talent that slides to us in the 2nd round.”

2.3 Atlanta Falcons - Gregory Rousseau - ED - Miami

2.4 Miami Dolphins - Javonte Williams - RB - North Carolina

2.5 Philadelphia Eagles - Jalen Mayfield - OL - Michigan

2.6 Cincinnati Bengals - Liam Eichenberg - OT - Notre Dame

2.7 Carolina Panthers - Elijah Moore - WR - Ole Miss

2.8. Denver Broncos -
