We’ve got about two hours before the second round of the NFL Draft kicks off. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to check the pulse of Broncos Country. There’s still plenty of intriguing prospects available and since Denver picks at eight they’re assured a chance at some of them.
What position(s) do you want the Broncos to address tonight?
Taylor Kothe: I’d be quite happy with ILB or OT at 40. There are several good prospects at both positions that may be available there, and when the draft falls to suit your needs you’d be dumb not to take advantage of it. That’d be almost as bad as going with a CB for BPA purposes when there’s a potential franchise QB sitting right there for the taking...
Drew Lock Resume:
— Mike Renner (@PFF_Mike) April 30, 2021
- 56.9 completion % in college
- passed over by his own team in draft for a TE
- 2nd lowest graded QB since entered NFL
Justin Fields Resume:
- MVP at Elite 11 over Trevor Lawrence
- Two CFP appearances
- 2nd highest graded QB since entered college
Tim Lynch: I am angling for an ILB or RB in the second round, but they should start addressing the offensive line before too long here.
Scotty Payne: Adding speed and coverage ability at linebacker should be a priority. If JOK falls to 40th overall, I think he’s the pick.
Running back. I know people hate early RB picks but if you’re QB’s are really going to be Drew Lock and Teddy B., you need a strong run game to lean on.
Insurance at RT. Ja’Wuan James is about as trustworthy as your ex-girlfriend. He’s an injury risk and his desire has been questioned in the past. Plus. the Broncos tackle depth isn’t great.
Safety depth. The Broncos currently do not have a reliable third safety and Kareem Jackson’s replacement should be drafted.
Finally, Aaron Rodgers.
Adam Malnati: The ILB in Denver stink. I’ll echo the sentiment that they need to target that position specifically. And just like Scotty, A-A-Ron
I have it on good authority that the Broncos were ** close to landing Aaron Rodgers last night and they weren't the ones who backed out.

Keep the hope gang. Better days ahead.
Joe Rowles: I really want the Broncos to draft a right tackle tonight. Ja’Wuan James has played 65 snaps since he signed in 2019 and it looks like he’s an early favorite for a cap cut next season. It makes too much sense to draft a prospect now so he has a little time before he’s thrown into the fire. Even better, the first round didn’t see a run on tackles like I expected and guys like Teven Jenkins, Sam Cosmi, Spencer Brown, Stone Forsythe, James Hudson, and D’Ante Smith are still available.
