The Denver Broncos have selected Indiana safety Jamar Johnson with their 164th overall selection in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Johnson had a solid final season at Indian racking up 43 total tackles and four interceptions. He is the first player in this draft that George Paton has drafted that didn’t score a high RAS, but it seems he has good instincts and is always around the ball despite not having top end athletic traits.

At the very least, the Broncos just found a solid special teamer who can also come in and play in dime packages. Interestingly, Pro Football Focus had Johnson ranked as their third best safety and Denver was able to land him in the fifth round. According to them, he was targeted 44 times and allowed zero touchdowns and snagged seven interceptions.

What do you think of the Broncos decision to draft Jamar Johnson in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft?
