The Denver Broncos were quite busy over the last week. The obvious event was the 2021 NFL Draft, but the team also acquired quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in a trade and made a few free agent signings on Monday as the team looked to fill out the roster. There was also the drama unfolding in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers that had Denver mentioned heavily as a potential trade destination.
While that never materialized, who knows where things might head between Rodgers and the Pack. However, if something did happen it is good to know the Broncos are well oriented to take on Rodgers and his rather large salary cap hit.
Currently, the Broncos according to Over The Cap are sitting on $25 million in cap space. This number will go down as their draft picks begin to get signed, but that will only knock the number down a few million.
I like the flexibility, but even if that type of insane trade never happens the Broncos also have the cap room they need to begin working on a long-term deal with Courtland Sutton who is now in the final year of his deal. I hope that gets done long before the season even starts.
