Well, the first padded practice was a bit meh as the team focused more on ball control offense and such, which is important, but when you have a quarterback competition going on a fan needs more of that.
That said, Javonte Williams is a guy charging up my fantasy draft boards. He looks like he could take over as the lead back early on in his rookie campaign. It’ll be good to have Melvin Gordon in there too, but I do think Williams is the guy we should look for to take off this season.
“Yeah, he’s been terrific,” Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur said of Williams on Tuesday. “His running ability is very obvious, but the things that we see are his instincts as a football player. Some people just get it, and then we’ve all been around people that just don’t quite get it. They wake up every morning and start over. He gets it, and it shows up in his pass protection, it shows up in being able to get lined up, his awareness. He’s got a really bright future.”
If Denver has a strong rushing attack in 2021, then it could really help the eventual starting quarterback by taking a lot of the pressure of their shoulders in games.
