The Denver Broncos (1-0) will be looking to maintain their good start to the season with another road win in Week 2 against Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1).
With a defense like they have in Denver, they should be able to keep Lawrence off balance in his second NFL start. However, the talent Lawrence has shone through even during a tough loss in his first start. He threw three interceptions, but also added three touchdown passes.
Head Coach Vic Fangio was asked if he thought about changing things up to get more pressure on a rookie quarterback, but he seemed more interested in disguising and confusing a rookie quarterback defensively.
“We play the defense that we’re comfortable playing. [There’s] no sense in making our guys uncomfortable for the sake of that. Hopefully we do a good enough job disguising our intentions and that helps. A lot of people think pressuring a rookie quarterback is the way to go, but sometimes that makes it easy for him. It identifies the coverage; he gets the ball out quick. You just need to have a good mix of pressure and coverage.”
That approach is probably a good one.
Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. Mile High time on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.
