The Denver Broncos are off to a good start to 2021, but they must keep that momentum going on the road against Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars here in Week 2. A 2-0 start on the road would be huge for an upstart team.

Game preview

The biggest story today will likely be Vic Fangio’s defense against the number one overall draft pick in Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence. If they can keep him off balance and confused it should lead to a lot of mistakes and, hopefully, turnovers.

Head Coach Vic Fangio noted the most important factor to beating a talented young quarterback like Lawrence is to disguise what the defense is doing.

“Hopefully we do a good enough job disguising our intentions and that helps,” Fangio said this week. “A lot of people think pressuring a rookie quarterback is the way to go, but sometimes that makes it easy for him. It identifies the coverage; he gets the ball out quick. You just need to have a good mix of pressure and coverage.”

If the Denver defense can achieve that, then it could be a long day for Trevor Lawrence.

On the offensive side of the ball, I’d like to see Teddy Bridgewater continue managing the game like he did last week. Stick to the run game and take a few shots downfield. The magic number with this defense is 24. If they can get to 24 points, I think they end up winning the game.
