Broncos-Giants odds: Denver road favorites in Week 1

The Denver Broncos will open the season on the road and also odds on favorites to beat the New York Giants in Week 1.

When the Denver Broncos take the field in Week 1, they will find themselves in an unusual spot in road games. Favorites. They are 2.5-point favorites against the New York Giants this week and given the home team tends to get a few points their way, oddsmakers must really like Denver’s chances in this game.

One thing that could move the line in the Giants favor is the ongoing updates coming out that running back Saquon Barkley is trending towards playing this week. If true, he would pick a tough spot to come back as the Broncos defense is looking like a legitimate powerhouse on paper this season.

Teddy Bridgewater was elected season captain along with Von Miller, Courtland Sutton, Justin Simmons, Kareem Jackson, and Brandon McManus. The coaches chose him as the starter two weeks ago and the players clearly backed that decision with the captain voting this week. The Broncos season now rides on his arm and decision making.

For this first week, I think Denver is going to come out pretty strong. Head Coach Vic Fangio made sure the starters played in every preseason game and you could tell he is hoping for no sluggish starts to the season. Part of me wants to be conservative, but I’m going with the optimism on this one: Broncos 31, Giants 13.
