NFL Playoff Picture: Broncos firmly in the hunt in AFC

Don’t look now, but the Denver Broncos are in the conversation and could be in the seeding for reals if they can pull off a road win over the Houston Texans in Week 13.

From 1-5 to 5-0, the Denver Broncos have done a complete 180 degree turnaround on their season. After thoroughly dismantling the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in an NFL Scorigami 29-12 victory, the Broncos moved to 6-5 on the season and are tied with two other teams for that seventh seed. And they play one of those teams next week in the Houston Texans.

As it stands, they are technically in the ninth seed behind both the Indianapolis Colts and those Texans.

However, there is a good chance a win over the Texans will plant them in the seventh seed or better. The Browns are finally showing some strain behind a slew of injuries and will be travelling west to take on a healthy-looking Los Angeles Rams team that just won big on Sunday themselves. If Denver beats the Texans and the Rams take care of the Browns, then Denver is in sole possession of one of those AFC seeds.

The Colts play on the road next week against the Tennessee Titans, but whether they win or lose doesn’t matter as much as the above outcomes play out for Denver. In short, they have to keep this win streak going if they want to end up making it to the playoffs for the first time since the 2015 Super Bowl run.
