With the third quarter struggles the Denver Broncos have had this season, Head Coach Sean Payton said he would likely try to script some plays coming out of halftime to try to jump start things against the Los Angeles Chargers. They had 8 punts, 1 first down, a missed field goal and a made field goal from their opening second half drives this season.

After getting to a third and one, they did not get it on a Russell Wilson sneak to bring out another punt to start the second half.

With Easton Stick in the game due to Justin Herbert being ruled out, the Chargers predictably focused on the ground game. The first two handoffs led to an Austin Ekeler first down. Two plays later Stick hit Keenan Allen for another first down across midfield.

They would face a fourth and inches soon after that and would again be denied by a stout Broncos defense. Los Angeles would be 0-3 on fourth downs up to that point in the game.

Russell Wilson and Courtland Sutton took over from there with their next drive ending in a 46-yard touchdown strike to put the Broncos up by three scores.

Broncos 17, Chargers 0.

After forcing a quick three-and-out on the Easton Stick-led Chargers, the Broncos offense would begin trying to run the clock with a heady dose of Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin. They would get one first down before punting it back with under two minutes left in the third quarter.
