The Houston Texans committed a block in the back to start the second quarter to bring up a 1st and 20. A short pass and a 10-yard run set them up with a third and six. A run by C.J. Stroud stops him four yards short to bring out the field goal unit for Houston.

On their fourth possession, the Broncos hoped to avoid another punt. On first down, Russell Wilson was flushed out of the pocket and tackled from behind for a three yard gain. On second down, Javonte Williams took a handoff up the middle powering his way with defenders on his back for a 15-yard gain.

Wilson went deep to a wide open Marvin Mims Jr. who was clearly interfered with right in front of a blind referee who called it incomplete.

The Broncos would punt two plays later. The NFL referee situation is a complete joke.

After getting the Texans into a 1st and 25, the defense gives up a 22-yard run. It’s that kind of day for Denver. While they would force a punt on that drive, the no-call from the previous Broncos possession was still on everyone's minds.

A screen pass to Javonte Williams and a Wilson scramble picked up back-to-back first downs to get Denver to the Houston 45 with under five minutes to go in the first half. Williams continued to find the holes in the defense and picked up four on first down from there. An incompletion brought up a third and six where Wilson would find Samaje Perine who would stumble ahead of the sticks and fall a yard short, but Denver would go for it and Wilson would drop back but then charge up the middle for a critical first down.

Another first down from Jaleel McLaughlin got Denver inside the red zone. Wilson hit Jerry Jeudy for the first time in the game for a six yard gain. On second and four, Wilson handed off to Williams who was stuffed for a one yard loss. On third and five, Wilson dropped back to pass and was pressured badly but was able to throw it away to bring out the field goal unit.
