The Russell Wilson era has come to an end in Denver and the team has decided to roll with Jarrett Stidham for their final two games. If the Denver Broncos are to finish above .500 they have to start with a win at home against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Game Preview

All eyes are on Stidham now. Head Coach Sean Payton was asked how he was handling the promotion to starter and he felt the quarterback has had a good week of practice.

“He’s had a good week,” Payton said on Friday. “When you are the No. 2, you take all the scout team reps, and you can see it. He’s running carded plays, but when you start looking at the schemes in our league, there’s a lot of, ‘This is ours. This is ours. This is just like us.’ I think we are pretty deep at receiver with some of the guys we have on the practice squad. There’s a chance one or two of them may come up for this game. I think he was sharp this week.”

If Denver’s offense can bounce back and put up some points, they should beat the Chargers in this game. They are down both Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen, while also firing their head coach and general manager recently. This is a game, at home, that even bad teams shouldn’t lose.

Here’s how to watch.

Broncos-Chargers Betting Odds

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Broncos opened 5.5-point home favorites over the Chargers. However, after the benching of Russell Wilson the line shifted heavily in favor of the visiting team and now stands at just a 3.5-point advantage for Denver with an over/under at 37. Even so, I think we see the Broncos win this game and cover that spread with Jarrett Stidham under center.

Fan Sentiment

Fan Confidence tanked after back-to-back ugly losses and their playoff odds are nearly non-existent heading into this game. Just 41% of you who voted in our weekly SB Nation Reacts survey believe this 2023 Broncos season is a success at this point. Hard to argue with the team staring at another sub-500 finish.
