The Denver Broncos had a drive going pretty good to end the first quarter, but the Los Angeles Chargers defense came out on fire to start the second quarter and Denver would need to punt it away in short order.

Easton Stick and the Chargers took advantage with good field position to quickly drive down the field and into the red zone on their next possession. Denver’s defense stiffened inside the red zone to force a field goal.

On their next possession, the Broncos methodically drove down the field behind a strong rushing attack. Then on third and eight, Jarrett Stidham found Lil’Jordan Humphrey who made incredible plays to break multiple tackles during a 54-yard scamper for a touchdown to put Denver back in the lead.

On the Chargers next possession, the Broncos forced them into a punt formation near midfield but they attempted to fake it. The snap was fumbled and Drew Sanders was able to tackled them to give the Broncos the ball just outside the Chargers 40-yard line with under three minutes to go in the first half.

Denver’s drive stalled just outside the 30 yard line to give Wil Lutz a 43-yard field goal attempt that he banged through with just under two minutes left in the half.

Los Angeles took advantage of the time left on the clock to get a drive of their own together before halftime. A brutal penalty took them back and on third and 14, Easton Stick tossed the ball into triple coverage where Josey Jewell looked like he had intercepted the ball, but the ball was ruled incomplete to force a punt.

With 16 seconds left, the Broncos tried to get a ball up into scoring range where Stidham found Jerry Jeudy WIDE OPEN for a massive gain into field goal range to the Chargers 34-yard line for a 41-yard gain.

The field goal attempt by Wil Lutz from 48-yards out was no good to send the game to halftime.
