The Denver Broncos got the ball to start the second half and immediately went to the ground game with Javonte Williams who lost three yards on first down. A short pass from Jarrett Stidham setup a third and 10 where Stidham would attempt a pass over the middle of the field to Lil’Jordan Humphrey for 16 yards and a first down.

For a team that had eight three-and-outs to start the second half, that first down was huge given the quarterback changes Sean Payton made this week. Two plays later on a third and two, Stidham handed off to Javonte Williams who lost another three yards. Williams with two carries for negative six yards to start the second half was not an ideal start for him.

Easton Stick and the Los Angeles Chargers offense found room to move on their next possession, but once they got into field goal range they ended up facing a third and two. Stick, from the shotgun, handed where the Broncos defense stuffed the inside run for no gain to bring out the field goal unit for a 50-yard field goal.

Broncos 13, Chargers 6.

Denver, on their next possession, went for it on fourth and one from their own 29-yard line and was able to convert. The drive ended up stalling at midfield anyway where Denver would punt it away with less than two minutes left in the third quarter.

It would seem the quarterback change did not solve any of their third quarter woes so far.
