He's 32 years old, but I still hate to think there could be a 66 percent chance that we could have to face him twice next year. I always kind of liked Smith, but if he's really forcing his way out to play for one of those three teams, that's going to change very quickly.
If Q. Mickell is leaving Philly he could be an interesting pickup. I'm hesitant of relying on 30yr old DBs, but this is the guy that made Dawk expendable in Philly.... would seem to be an upgrade on Hill or Dawk if the price were right....
On Mario Williams:
"The reason to play Mario Williams at outside linebacker is he isn’t a defensive end in a 3-4. But he isn’t an outside linebacker either.
Williams is a 4-3 defensive end. Or at least he used to be. And still should be." Hmmmm, sounds familiar, does it not?
On the Broncos impact in 2011 because of their draft picks:
"Broncos—Seeing the Broncos were a bad team and have a new coach, opportunities should be plentiful for young guys. Out of nine draftees, it’s likely four or five can have some sort of impact at some point of the season. Von Miller should be a starter and a solid nickel pass rusher from the first game. Others who could contribute include safety Rahim Moore, offensive tackle Orlando Franklin, safety Quinton Carter and defensive end Jeremy Beal."
It's no surprise that Elvis Dumervil was texting this year's highest-projected pass-rusher minutes after the Broncos made him the second overall draft pick: With Denver moving back to a 4-3 defense under John Fox, the Broncos will have one of the most dynamic edge-rushing duos in the NFL, just a year removed from finishing dead last in Defensive Adjusted Sack Rate as a result. Miller led the nation in 2009 with 17 sacks, and he put up 10.5 more in 2010 after recovering from an early season ankle injury. His skills also transfer well to the NFL because he has a comprehensive arsenal of hand moves and foot fakes -- he can rip and swim and take a step inside or outside before switching directions and leaving some other poor sucker in the dust. He will also pick up sacks by sheer determination. One of the things I like best about Miller is that he refuses to give up on a play after he gets beaten, or if it goes the other direction.
This is the easiest call in Denver Broncos History. The starting QB for the Broncos should be.....
When we saw the big fella slide down into the mid first, we seriously considered trading back up. It would've cost something like a 2nd & 4th this year, and a 1st & 2nd next. If it was Suh we were talking about, maybe, but IMO Elway, Xanders & Fox did the right thing. We always have next year - you can't fill up a team as needy as our's, defensively, in one draft!!!!
Janoris Jenkins is a first round talent at cornerback who was recently dismissed for a 2nd marijuana issue. First, would you want to pursue him in the supplemental draft? Second, what would you bid to get him? Second rounder? The link is a scouting report of him.
the Cardinals have had preliminary contact with the Broncos about the availability of Kyle Orton.
