Horse Tracks: July 4th hangover edition

Let the 4th of July stand as yet another example that downtime is the NFL player's worst enemy. Just ask New York Giant's defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. Pierre-Paul injured his hand in an Independence Day accident that, by all accounts could have been avoided. Let's hope that Broncos players take note of Pierre-Paul's boneheaded actions and stay out of trouble until training camp starts later this month.

So what did Pierre-Paul do? The details of exactly what led to the accident are unclear. What is known is that Pierre-Paul celebrated the 4th with a van full of fireworks (but is that enough?) and a visit to the hospital. I'm sure that as the night got later and the party continued, having so many fireworks led to some unsafe firework behavior and something went off in his hand. Initial reports stated that his hand was pretty mangled, but later reports said the injury would be nothing to worry about. The truth is probably somewhere in between.
