Good morning, Broncos Country!
Garett Bolles has a fabulous nickname for Von Miller.
“I call Von Miller the ‘Chinese Dragon’ because he’s always moving and twisting,” said the rookie offensive tackle as he sat in the media booth with the Lacrosse Sports Network at last Saturday night’s Denver Outlaws game.
And it’s no secret Bolles would likely know Miller’s mystical talent as the 2017 first-round draft pick has spent the past month getting to know the first-round pick of 2012.as the 2017 first-round draft pick has spent the past month getting to know the first-round pick of 2012 up close and personal.
And he’d be the first to agree with the Chinese meaning behind “dragon:”
The dragon is a symbol of power, strength and good luck for people who are worthy of it.
That pretty much sums up Miller’s edge-rushing career so far - and Bolles is happy being part of the unit trying to slay it.
“Von Miller, Shane Ray and all those guys on the defense, they’re there for a reason. We have the best defense in the nation in my opinion and it’s just going to make me better so when we play our conference - the best conference in the NFL - it will help me dramatically.”

Miller and several of his defensive teammates appear to have taken Bolles under their wing a bit to accelerate the rookie’s NFL education.
“They’re great teammates. They come up to me and tell me, ‘hey your hands are low, your feet aren’t moving, you’re off-balance,” Bolles said. “They’re there to help me. They know I’m there to help them ... that’s how we are. We’re just a family.”
And if you recall Bolles’ story, he’s a big fan of family. After getting kicked out of his house, it was his lacrosse coach Greg Freeman who took Bolles in and got him on the right path.
“He’s my dad. I love him dearly,” Bolles said. “When I did something dumb, he picked me up and made sure I knew. He’s only person who picked me up and shook me a little bit when I wasn’t doing my thing on the field. ...I’m just grateful for him.”
Bolles’ gratitude for his father/coach is one of the reasons he still loves lacrosse, and his demo play before the Outlaws game on Saturday shows a rather agile offensive tackle picking up that lacrosse stick just like he was riding a bike.
But he assures us that football is his true love (even if that sexy lacrosse was his first) and he has a lot of plans to improve in it before training camp in six weeks.
“I’m just going to continue to run, hit the weight room to get stronger as fast as I can,” he said, noting that being an o-lineman is a game of strength. “It’s a man’s game so you got to make sure you’re eating right, lifting right, sleeping right.”
So you can slay that Chinese dragon.
Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement for T.D. - who’s going?
Denver Broncos’ super stud running back Terrell Davis will finally be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (and we here at MHR are taking partial credit!).
The ceremony will be Saturday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. EST. Tickets are on sale for the event and range from $40 - $175.
MHR member OrangeandBluesBros tells me that hotels are booked in Canton, but there are rooms left in Akron, which is about 20 miles away. There also is some availability on Airbnb in Canton, but not much!
If there are several Broncos fans from MHR planning to go, it would be fun to know and meet up. Let us know in the comments if you’re interested in going and starting an email chain to make plans for joining fellow MHR members to cheer TD when he puts on that gold jacket!
