Following a near flawless performance in which four out of his five incompletions were drops, Manning has been named the AFC Player of the Week for the 2nd time this season.

Manning completed 32-of-37 passes (86.5%) for 374 yards with three touchdowns (135.8 rtg.) in Denver's 37-21 win against the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football. His performance marked just the sixth time in NFL history a player threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns while completing at least 85 percent of his passes.

His three touchdowns against Oakland gave him 12 for the season (against zero interceptions) to represent the most by a player through three games in league annals.

Manning's accomplishment marks the 25th such award of his career, adding to his NFL record. It's the fourth time he has earned the honor with Denver (Weeks 6, 17 in 2012 and Week 1 in 2013) and the 50th time a Broncos player has taken home the award.

Manning is on a blistering pace after a hot start to the season. The scary thing? The Broncos offense can do better. I would expect Peyton to go on and win the AFC player of the month award as well. As long as we have the weapons we have, there are no signs of slowing down.

Congratulations Peyton!!! GO BRONCOS!!!

Most Raiders fans probably want to forget last night's loss. Terrelle Pryor already has.

During the Oakland Raiders (1-2) 37-21 loss to the Denver Broncos (3-0) on Monday Football Football last night, quarterback Terrelle Pryor when he was hit by Denver Broncos linebacker Wesley Woodyard late in the game and suffered a concussion.

According to ESPN, the injury puts Pryor's status in doubt for Oakland's Week 4 contest against Washington.

Though he may not play next week as a precaution, Pryor's injury does not appear to be immediately serious and he went as far as to tweet that he feels great.

When asked about the hit, Raiders head coach Dennis Allen, who coached Woodyard as Denver's defensive coordinator from 2008-2010, responded:

"(It was) within the rules, it's inside the tackle box," Allen said. "But it was a pretty good hit."

If Pryor continues to improve as a passer, future contests against him may become something Broncos fans will want to forget. Though he is currently quarterbacking a struggling team, the 6'4, 233-pound second-year quarterback is athletic as they come and has shown potential in his four NFL starts.

On Monday, Pryor went 19-of-28 for 281 yards and a score while adding 36 yards on the ground. Two weeks ago, Pryor threw for 217 yards and rushed for 112 more in a 21-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Pryor is gifted, and if he can stay healthy, he will evolve into a dangerous threat and a menace to play against for many years to come.

I looks like Caldwell took some snaps away from Eric Decker this game. When I go back and watch it will be interesting to see if this occurred in 12 personnel looks with only two wide receivers. On the surface it appears so as Caldwell registered 12 pass block snaps. It was the most snaps Caldwell has received in a game thus far

With the TE's, Julius Thomas continues to play the entire game no matter the personnel grouping. It was good to see more use of Virgil Green. With 3 TE sets we can clearly see that Jacob Tamme has fallen to #3 on the depth chart.

The Broncos played 55 defensive snaps. It will be interesting to see, but I would venture to say the Broncos ran their 3-4/5-2 defense more extensively against the Raiders rushing attack given that Robert Ayers snap counts are a bit lower this game.

In the run stopping department, Knighton scored the highest grade. In the pass rushing department, Ayers was the only Bronco in the green. He led all pass rushers with 5 pressures. Derek Wolfe and Malik Jackson come in 2nd place with 2 each.

Irving, Woodyard, and Trevathan all graded out positive in run support and Irving registered the most stops with 3. The bigs up front are taking up blockers and space to let the little guys eat.

With the injuries to Duke Ihenacho and Tony Carter, Mike Adams, and Kayvon Webster saw more extensive action. No one had a stellar day in coverage. Part of the reason was the more extensive use of zone coverage against a young and athletic quarterback. In my keys to the game, I pointed out that one way to keep a QB like Pryor from running wild was to have the secondary play zone and be facing the QB. Zone is not the strength of our secondary, but with the combination of our opponents and our injuries, Del Rio took a bend but don't break approach with a comfortable lead.

* Tony Carter leads all Broncos DB's with 8 passes defensed, Duke Ihenacho is 2nd with 5

* The Broncos rank 31st in the league against the pass and 1st against the run. The first number is very deceptive as the Broncos have allowed a ton of garbage time passing yards with 2 and 3 score leads.

* I've been charting the Broncos use of defensive fronts and techniques amongst the defensive line and will be writing up an extensive post by the end of the week.

Go Broncos!!!

Did Eric Decker and Ronnie Hillman get back in MHR's good graces?

Ronnie Hillman

Well, well, well. Maybe it isn't going to be Knowshon Moreno's backfield after all this season. Hillman rushed nine times for 66 yards (a team-high) and a score on Monday, showing flashes of tough running, something we're not used to seeing from the second-year running back. Ronnie has been viewed as a scatback since he arrived in Denver, but he showed tonight that he can run between the tackles. Denver has a nice three-way running back rotation going on, but Hillman may be emerging as the feature guy. - Jon Heath

Eric Decker

Dude had a great game again today. His bad week 1 performance is way behind him. Decker had 8 receptions for 133 yards, and 1 touchdown. He also had a long 61 yard reception where he didn't slip and fall! haha. All joking aside I liked what I saw from Decker tonight. He fought for the tough yards to get the first down a few times. So for the 2nd week in a row Decker gets my game ball! - Scotty Payne

Demaryius Thomas

Is it just me or does Demaryius Thomas always seem to have a hundred yards or more? No touchdowns this game, but he came up big time and again. Plus, I just love that he is so consistent in this offense. It's hard for any wide receiver to go out every single week and not be shut down at least every once in a while. Tonight? 10 catches, 94 yards. - Tim Lynch

Robert Ayers

In Week One it was Shaun Phillips with two sacks, in Week Two it was Danny Trevathan with a sack and in Week Three it is Robert Ayers with two sacks-- he could have have four. Terrelle Pryor is an excellent scout team for what the Broncos defense will face in Week Four against the Philadelphia Eagles and I think that fans are seeing a trend developing here. The Denver defense isn't going to have a single player standout, it is probably going to be a new player every week, with players starting to repeat towards the middle of the season. As it stands Ayers has six solo tackles, four assists and three sacks on the season. - Ian Henson

Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning. Choo Choo! The MVP train keeps rolling along. Next stop, Philadelphia. Mr. Manning has really racked up some accomplishments in the first three games. He is already over 1,000 yards passing, 12 touchdowns, and no picks. The defenses are rattled and this offense isn't even firing on all cylinders yet. The train keeps rolling on and Bronco Country is enjoying the show. - Mr. East

Matt Prater

He got a lot of hate last year but so far this year he's been money across the board and hasn't missed yet. So far this season he's 5 of 5 and is also perfect from 40+. This was a complete game and a lot of players will get there respect, but let's take a second and tell Prater we are sorry that some Broncos fans wanted him cut. - Topher Doll

Wesley Woodyard

Denver's undrafted, underrated star at linebacker had a great game Sunday; Wesley Woodyard is emerging as Denver's voice, tone-setter, and face on defense. How about eight tackles, second on the team? How about half a sack? How about that brutal hit on Terrelle Pryor late in the fourth quarter that let he and the Raiders know, loud and clear, that Denver's defense wasn't done until the game was over? Woodyard led a defense that stifled the Raiders for the vast majority of the game, particularly that Oakland rushing attack. Well done, Woody. - Monty

Broncos Front Seven

Darren McFadden 12 carries 9 yards. That is .8 per carry. Not even a yard per carry. Pryor managed to inflate the numbers with some good scrambling, but up to this point the Broncos front 7 have allowed 130 rushing yards through three games (42.5 yards per game). This isn't a mistake or smoke and mirrors. Our line is blowing up the offensive front and giving our fast LB's room to mop up whatever comes their way. - Bronco Mike

Look, any talk of the Chiefs or anyone else giving us issues needs to be put to rest until that matchup occurs. Until then the Chiefs can eek out wins with a +5 turnover margin while the Broncos can blow out a division rival after finishing -2.

Peyton "5 x MVP" Manning

He's a shoe in for AFC Player of the month, and no one else is going to catch him in production on this pace. Tonight he did something many have done before: torch the Raiders. That one act however made his 3-game run to begin a season the greatest mark of all time. Now, it isn't the greatest three game stretch at any point of the season (he holds that record BTW with 15TD's in a three game stretch going back to 2004), but let's just say no other QB in the NFL has played so dominantly thus far to begin the season.

The numbers so far? 89-122 (72.3%), 1143 yards (9.4 per attempt), 12 TD's, 0 INT's, 134.7 QBR

But I'm sure Andrew Luck or Phillip Rivers will be ahead of him in tomorrow's ESPN QB metric....

Broncos ain't played no one!!!

The combined record of our opponents? 3-6. The combined record of the Chiefs opponents? 3-6. Net Points? Broncos +56. Chiefs net points? +37.

How about the other undefeateds??? Bears opponents 2-7. Saints opponents 2-7. Seahawks opponents 2-7. Dolphins opponents 4-5. Patriots opponents 3-6.

You take the field and I'll take the Broncos.

Chris Clark resident badass...at least for one game

Okay, so he got owned on one occasion. So what? Dude played a great game--and I don't like the prospects of him at LT. He held up just fine and got beat on one play by one of the most productive pass rushers thus far in the early NFL season.

I want to see more sustained progress, but I will give the man his due tonight.

Robert Ayers...sackmaster

Finished with two on the night to go along with several more pressures. I use that label sort of tongue in cheek hoping to bait someone (cough Rodney) into a response but up to this point, Ayers is leading the Broncos with 3 sacks on the season. Paired up with FA vet Shaun Phillips, that gives them 5.5 from the edge. At this point last season Von Miller had 3 sacks and Elvis Dumervil had 1 sack. That makes 4 by my count. Am I saying Ayers and Phillips is greater than Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil? Nope. But the sky isn't falling either and our defense seems to be doing just fine in their stead.

Front 7 Resident Badass(es)

Darren McFadden 12 carries 9 yards. That is .8 per carry. Not even a yard per carry. Pryor managed to inflate the numbers with some good scrambling, but up to this point the Broncos front 7 have allowed 130 rushing yards through three games (42.5 yards per game). This isn't a mistake or smoke and mirrors. Our line is blowing up the offensive front and giving our fast LB's room to mop up whatever comes their way. Nate Irving has been a big reason why. He is making a play or two in the backfield everygame. Tonight he led all Broncos with 12 tackles.

The Black and Decker Quartet

Welker, JT, DT, Decker. This fearsome foursome have absolutely lit it up, and they are so close to each other in numbers after 3 games:

I will say that we will likely flirt with the prospect of 3 100 catch receivers, 3 1000 yard receivers, and 4 double digit TD reception seasons from these guys.

The Studesville Triplets

Excellent game tonight. I liked what I saw from Ronnie Hillman. I liked what I saw from Montee Ball up until that fumble. Ball ran hard, determined, and made a couple of tough first downs. Kid has to stop putting the rock on the ground. We would have ground up the rest of the time on that drive had he not fumble. It's not like the mistake was going to cost the game but some day it might. Regardless, did anyone else cringe seeing Peyton Manning in position to make a tackle? With our injury bug lately, the last thing we need is for some stupid mistake to prolong the competitive nature of the game to the point that one of our guys getting injured. Almost happened with Wesley Woodyard week 1 on Trevathan's stupid play, happened last week late in the game with Clady still in the game, just hold on to the ball and close the game.

I don't care if we use four guys to run the ball, our running game chewed the clock in the 2nd half. Combined, Hillman and Ball had 20 carries for 127 yards (6.3 yards per carry).

Pass DRC, our new #1

There were two plays late in the game that reminded me of Champ Bailey in his prime. On one, the speedy receiver ran by with a step, DRC turned on the jets and caught up to deflect the ball. Not sure Champ makes that play anymore. Late in the game on 4th down at our goalline, DRC breaks up a quick slant. Reminds me of all the times I've seen Champ do that.

When Champ does come back, DRC is still our best outside corner.

Injury Bug Go Away

Somewhere, someone has a voodoo doll of the Broncos and is jabbing pins in it every week. When I find whoever is responsible, I'm going to kill you. Just fair warning.

Next up

The Eagles. They will provide the best test against our defense so far. They may be mistake prone, but they are also dangerous and capable of moving the ball against any team.
